Most people are only vaguely familiar with the socialist elements of, as well as gun control in Nazi Germany, but very few get to hear firsthand accounts from someone who has actually lived through these events and who are vocal about these particular issues.
Below is a video of an Austrian World War II survivor by the name of Kitty Werthmann. She goes into great detail about socialism and gun control in Germany under the "Third Reich", as well as other incredibly horrific and dystopian aspects of Hitler's Germany.
It should be noted that many will claim that Hitler actually loosened gun control. This is largely an editorialization and here's why: The primary pro-gun argument is that if Germans had access to guns en masse, Hitler's terror may have been averted from the inside. The truth is that Hitler did loosen gun laws - For his followers, that is. Anyone who was considered a political dissident expressly had their gun rights taken away from them, including anyone vocal against the Nazi party regardless of race or religion, but as expected, this especially applied to Jews, and anyone else deemed less than. How did the Nazis do it? A convenient gun registry that was established in 1928. Anyone wanting a handgun needed a permit, and anyone who wanted to carry one needed an additional permit. It did not seem to apply to long guns, or ammunition. However, as a result, they knew who had guns.
All of this was perfect when they passed the German Weapons Act of 1938, which prohibited Jews from owning any firearms. This act did deregulate the acquisition of long guns and ammo, but again, this was a different story for those considered dissidents. Likewise, the GWA of 1938 completely exempted members of the Nazi Party from any gun ownership restrictions. Dissidents were also barred from owning other weapons such as knives, and even before Kristallnacht, a number of major German police forces refused to allow many individuals their right to a firearm due to "lack of trustworthiness" as in "The Jews cannot be trusted to own weapons".
This is a long topic that can go on for quite a long time, so I'll quit rambling. I will however, recommend a book on this topic by Steven Halbrook, titled "Gun Control in the Third Reich: Disarming the Jews and Enemies of the State". Kitty Werthmann's speech will be embedded below. Enjoy.
